Discovery is a community platform where players of wrestling and combat sports games share user-created characters, arenas and movesets. It is live and stable, with close to 6,000 users.
My role
I was the lead and sole developer. I designed and built the whole system, from the Laravel API through to the React and Material UI front end. I handled hosting and deployment on DigitalOcean, with domains and file storage on AWS, and worked alongside a designer, a penetration tester and the platform owner through to launch. It has stayed live and stable since launch, with no unplanned maintenance required.
What it does
A large content library. Players can browse a wide variety of custom content across many wrestling and combat sports games.
Free downloads. Content is available through direct downloads or links to where it is hosted, all managed and owned by the original creators.
Updates and tooling. A built-in blog shares progress on the internal tools built behind the scenes.
