About Me

I’m a senior software engineer with ten years building and running web platforms, mostly in warehouse, logistics and compliance software. Strongest on the server side but comfortable owning the front end and the infrastructure too, working across PHP, TypeScript, React, Vue and AWS with CDK.

I now split my time between hands-on development and leading a team, covering architecture, planning and mentoring. I like owning a system end to end and leaving it in a state the next person can pick up.

Experience

Senior Software Engineer - 3PL
Nov 2025 - Present
  • Line manage and mentor a small team of engineers, covering technical guidance, feedback, day to day support and coding standards.
  • Own planning, scoping and delivery across multiple systems, and work with senior management to shape the technical and product roadmap.
  • Introduced Linear and a delivery process where there was none, moving the team from an untracked backlog dump to estimated projects, split out tickets and an ideas funnel feeding the dev board.
  • Built and rolled out a set of Claude Code agents across the team’s repositories, covering analysis, design, work breakdown, implementation, release and comms.
  • Documented the full system estate and its integrations as an as-is architecture diagram, with the to-be architecture now in design to move systems off a single shared server.
  • Design and build features across internal and client facing systems in PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js and React Native.
  • Onboard clients onto internal systems and support their integrations.
Senior Software Developer - Papertrail
Aug 2024 - Nov 2025
  • Introduced AWS CDK and shaped the migration path toward serverless infrastructure.
  • Led technical discussions and shaped architecture decisions with long term scalability in mind.
  • Owned planning, scoping and ticket structuring for upcoming projects.
  • Mentored mid level engineers and set the standards for code reviews, deployments and releases.
  • Ran release management and improved the team workflow around it.
Software Developer - Clear Cycle
Oct 2022 - Jul 2024
  • Built Circle, the internal platform used to manage client stock and inventory, as one of a team of three.
  • Worked alongside the Head of Engineering on core business systems and on the integration of a new warehouse management system.
  • Built serverless features on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge and DynamoDB, with OpenSearch and Athena for search and reporting.
  • Owned features end to end, from gathering requirements through to front end and back end delivery.
Software Engineer - Orka Technology Group
Mar 2020 - Sep 2022
  • Backend engineer across all three products in the group, Check for identity verification, Work for security staffing and Pay for payments.
  • Joined as all three products were being built out, taking features from scratch through to release.
  • Owned product areas end to end, covering feature planning, release management and on call incident response through Opsgenie.
  • Built API and webhook integrations with third party services including Onfido and GBG for identity checks, Rotacloud and Planday for scheduling, and Algolia, Intercom and Slack.
  • Mentoring was a core part of the role, working closely with junior and mid level developers and reviewing code across a team of mixed experience.
  • Ran retros and feature planning, shaped the backlog into sprint ready tickets and reported progress weekly.
Software Engineer - 3PL
Jan 2016 - Feb 2020
  • Built the 3PL API and the Fusion client portal, giving clients real time visibility of orders, stock, inbounds and invoices. Both are still in use today.
  • Integrated carrier, WMS and order systems including Royal Mail, Hermes, Metapack, Sorted, Snapfulfil and Linnworks, and onboarded new clients onto the order import process.
  • Designed and maintained in house systems, including a large legacy codebase.
  • Prioritised the weekly development plan and reported progress to management.
